The birthstones associated with October are fiery and sparkle with multi colors. Traditionally, the tourmaline has been associated as Octobers birthstone, but more modern associations set by the American National Association of Jewelers in 1912 list the opal as the birthstone for this month.

The birthstone of October, Opal, is a mineraloid ranges from colorless through white, milky blue, gray, red, yellow, green, brown and black.
